I think that it is not the car; it is the owner. Saab owners are more likely to put snow tires on their car. A Saab with snow tires will beat any truck (even 4wd) in almost any weather. But the same could be said for must other smaller modern cars with good snow tires. Other advantages of Saabs in snow: Upright seating position and upright windhield combined with the low hood allows the drive to pay very careful attention to what is in front of him/her. Also, many Saabs are 5 speed manual trans cars; this gives the driver greater control in the snow. Saabs have very good winter ventalation and defogging; they have rear vents up high for the side windows. You will never see a modern Saab fogged up; our Volvo, which is an otherwise better car than the Saab, cannot match the ventalation in the Saab.
