Leasing has become an extremely popular option for car owners, I believe 30% of the new cars are on lease, way up as compare to 10 years ago. The figure is even higher for the luxury segment. It is primarily aimed at people who likes to drive a new car every 2 or 3 years and with a relatively low monthly payment. The majority of them will not take the buy out option and for those who do, that is because the residual value is lower than the market value and they just flip it for a quick profit. I am surprised you would even consider a lease in the first place if you were planning to keep the car long term.
