Same mistake with my `90 9000CD. Maybe your dealer is right concerning the time you need to replace the motor. Hitting the motor-case helps always (until now..). Another weired thing is, that the motor slows down when I turn the steering-wheel to the left or right side. Back in the straight-forward position the motor accelerates to normal speed. I can't explain this phenomenon. Anybody else?
