The poster lives in Europe, where the warranty is One Year. Even though he used Shell synthetic, he changed his oil every 20,000km (12,000) miles. Try that here in the States and you deserve to be laughed out of the dealership. Regardless of the type of oil you use, before Saab recommended synthetic oils, the recommended oil change interval was between 3000 and 5000 miles, depending on if yours was a turbo or nonturbo. As I pointed out to him in a separate e-mail 1992 was not a good year for the 900s or 9000s, based on the number of problems I have seen posted in this news group and the www.saabnet.com bulletin board. They seem to have a propensity for overheating, warping heads and a variety of other engine related problems. Saab stopped using the 2.3 Liter engine. Things that make you go HMMMM!!!
