In my case the foam backing had > disintegrated so the glue wouldn't stick. all the sagging headliners are due to foam disintegration. you have to rip out the old fabric and glue in new foam lined headliner fabric. this is done with the liner shell out of the car. this is easy to do on a 900 3dr or a 9000, but 900 4dr needs to have the rear windshield removed to remove the headliner shell. it is a bit of work, but much more attractive than staples.
