I believe that I have a similar head gasket problem. My 1991 Saab 900 with 16v engine and 95k miles shows foamy oil in the coollant. My mechanic at "Planet Saab" (Saab only repair shop) in Middleton MA. suspects that it is a head gasket problem but would like to do a compression leak down test to confirm it. He qouted me a price in the $700 range and suggested that the timing chain be replaced at the same time since the head will be off for an extra $120. He warned that the head may also need to be machined. He said that head gasket problems on 16v engines is not a common defect but he sees a fair number of them. msummers wrote in message <_70U2.2230$hl6.83180nopsam.itd.umich.edu>... >I just recieved news that my '92 900S (16V normally aspirated) at 58,000 >miles is going to need a new headgasket at somepoint soon.
