Hello fellow Canajan! I stick religiously to the highest octane available for my turbo 16V, but for my 8V non-turbo, I've not noticed any difference between the cheap stuff and the hi-test. Go ahead and save your money. Use the cheap stuff. The difference (IMHO) between the two grades is that the higher octane gas is harder to ignite -> less knock so you get more use out of the turbo + APC. Without APC, there's no difference. Others *may* argue that you get better oomph and mileage out of higher octane, even in an 8V non-turbo - I've not noticed that. YMMV, though.. -chris aultnopsamelnetworks.com p.s., welcome to the wonderful world of Saab.
