Hello, I am hoping someone can help me out with some advice. I am lookin at an 86 9000 turbo. The car is very clean and the owner (2nd) has service records pretty much back to new. The problem is it needs some work: 1) the clutch is completely shot. So shot in fact that the car will barely creep forward with it fully engaged and the engine spinning 3000rpm. I have caled the dealership and was quoted $1200 for a replacement including master. My concern is the previous owner drove it right up until it wouldn't move anymore. He said "You could get it up to highway speed it would just take a few minutes.". Is it possible he damaged the engine or transmission by driving it like this. 2) The battery is completely dead. The car will jump start but the battery will not charge at all. When started the car idles well and will rev pretty willingly when you give it throttle but stalls out if you give it gas and then let off the pedal. Could this be the battery? The dashpot? or somwthing else. The guy will take $850 for the car. I don't mind spending some money to put it right but I don't want to be stuck with an endless money pit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know. Learn what you don't.
