Pete, Buy a metric setup from Sears. One of those "bundled" sets they sell in the Sunday flyer. For $1000 you can get plenty of tools and decent boxes. With a lifetime guaranty. Get plenty of sockets and wrenches. Stay away from much of the other hack saws and hammers and such. As a Saab mechanic for many years I have always used craftsman tools. Many of my colleagues use snap on. They are probably a little better tool, more ergonomic, better finish. But they have the same guaranty, do the same work, and Snap On costs about 6 times as much. Good Luck. Bill Oh yes, The Viggen is a Rocket ship. But for the money I would rather have a 9.5. sCOOTer wrote: > This is perhaps way off topic and I apologize, but I believe > in going to people who have the appropriate interests to get > reliable answers. > > I'm looking forthe best toolset under $1,000 (and under $1,500) > including Toolbox for performing mechanical on my Saab and other > cars.
