I would strongly advise against a salvage car. Any accident could cause a number of problems in the future. Shop around and don't be afraid to travel to buy the right car. I have just bought a 1990 900T with electric everything, AC that works, leather seats etc for $2000. It just needed the CV joints replacing. You could go for a much higher mileage car than the one you are looking at, but check the service records. The one I have just bought has 170,000 miles on it and the engine is in top condition. It may take a while, but you can find a great car at a cheap price.
