Just to let you all know, my local Saab dealer is refusing to back down over this gearbox issue. It appears he would prefer to play hardball, and by God is he going to have a tough game. To re-cap, it's a 1994 900 2.0 turbo SE with 78k on the clock. When I bought it in april it had 70k. Thus in 5 months I have put 8k miles on it, and the dealer is saying that Saab's own Approved Used Car warranty (which I paid to extend for 24 months) won't cover the gearbox as it is not "mechanical failure" but "wear and tear" as a result of bad driving. Quite how I can be accused of that I don't know, I have never had gear problems before in my life - or my previous 4 cars, and how could I damage the gearbox through poor technique when I have been returning 32mpg? To me the gears themselves appeared to have blue tips which with my limited knowledge suggests lack of oil - there was a pronounced oil leak 6 weeks after I purchased the car which they admitted was due to the incorrect amount of oil being put in the transmission by THEIR service staff. Could this be the cause? Any further ideas or help would be muchly appreciated. Hardball it is.....
