It's strange you are having that problem. I have a 96 900SE with the trunk mounted CD changer and have not had any problems. The battery has been disconnected a few times also, requiring the code to be input, but it has never not recognized the CD changer. If you have gone through that many control heads, then the problem probably is somewhere else. I don't have a clue as to where, but after the second radio replacement, I would have asked them to check all the wiring for the system, because it seems like changing the radio is only fixing your problem short term.
