I have noticed this phenomenon ( that the driver ahead of me speeds up when I'm passing ) a lot when driving my -82 99 GL here in Sweden, and also when I had a -77 Volvo 242 and when I had a -82 900GL. (Not as much in the 900, maybe it's hard to tell the difference between a '92 900 and a '82 900 :) ) I think people figure that if they're driving slower than a car as old as this, they must be driving really slow and don't check the velocity meter. And when I'm driving in the left lane on highways, BMWs and Mercedeses that I pass start driving faster so I have to get back into the right lane to let them pass. Maybe they have to drive faster than cheaper cars to get some value for their money. These things don't happen as often when I'm driving newer cars (SAAB 9-3, Mitsubishi Carisma!) at the same speeds on the same roads. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
