When I got my Saab new in 1986, the original pads squeaked, but they lasted 50,000 miles. Every replacement set after that was quiet but they had to be replace every 12,000 miles. They explained this as a change in the compound because so many people complained about the noise. Saab did offer a 15,000 mile wear warranty, so I only had to pay for labor. Finally they dropped this warranty. I then switched to aftermarket semi-metallic pad, which are noisy, but they are still there after 30,000 miles. Your problem seems to be both noise and short life. The short life may be due to calipers sticking. Ellis wrote: > Hi. For the last year and a half, I have had trouble with brakes. The shop > puts them in and they squeak.
