I have an 89 Turbo Convertible with 150,000 miles, 18 years driving experience, one speeding ticket in two years and I've never had an accident. No DUI's and I don't ever drive drunk. The blue book on my vehicle is less than $10,000 wholesale. Still, I'm paying around $1150 a year for insurance. Calling other insurers has not helped at all. All the answers have been the same. So, I talked with my agent about this. It turns out that they have a rating system on various vehicles. With my insurer, Farmer's, they rate the vehicles something (a or h or something)-through-z and then when they run out of letters, they use numbers. My car is a 6, meaning that my rates are through the roof. In other words: it's the fucking car. One starts to understand why the previous owner told me she couldn't afford the insurance. So, I am asking if any Saab convertible owners out there have found an insurance company which is a bit more reasonable. jl
