My '92 9000 with 107k miles is starting to run a bit too warm for my likes. The temperature gauge stays pretty much as it always has (I bought the car new) while running down the road, but with the advent of warmer spring temperatures the gauge will climb very close to the red mark when I come to a stop in traffic. It doesn’t stay up there very long, then comes back down a bit, so (I hope) there isn’t any damage taking place yet, but I’d like to resolve what’s happening before something expensive happens. I’ve always taken the car to dealer for service, so the coolant has been drained on schedule, (about every 3 years) and the thermostat was changed about a year ago. Still has original water pump. I’m thinking I should change the coolant yearly myself, flushing it with some sort of flush product. Can someone please let me know which of the flush products I should use, then which kind of coolant I should put back in. Do you have any other ideas as to how I can get things running cooler again.
