I used to have an 87 900S 16V 5 spd. I have been driving an 87 9000S 5 spd for just over two years. Your problem sounds like the AIC valve could be bad. But first check to make sure you have no vaccum leaks, the throttle body/plate are clean, your basic idle has been reset and your throttle position sensor ( dashpot) are okay. If all of these are okay, I would suspect the AIC valve first. It has moving parts and the contacts inside can burn and begin to stick. The other alternative is the AMM (MAF). The older MAFs on the 9000s with a part number ending in 005 have been troublesome. Check the www.towsendimports.com or www.saabnet.com websites.
