This is from www.nospam. "A car equipped with catalytic converter and the Lambda system must be run on lead-free fuel, and is therefore equipped with a special fuel filler pipe, so that it cannot be filled with leaded petrol by mistake." Would this explain why I cannot fit the gas hose nozzle into my 1986 Saab 900 more than an inch because of the small tiny hole they provide me to use. In my memory, I have never seen a different fuel pump hose at a gas station ever. When lead-free first came out did it have a smaller diameter pump? I find filling my Saab the MOST annoying thing about it. Actually...it's the only annoying thing, I have to hold the pump the whole time and bend down a little to do that. Makes my back sore. And also I cannot pump the gas at full speed without it cutting out, take a little more time than when I used to fill my Nissan which ran on unleaded, and had a larger diameter fuel cap.
