I've successfully used a repair kit (cost about $100) to fix my turbo. The kits include brass seals (which are usaully the cause of smoking). Many turbo reconditioners will sell these kits. You are taking a bit of a risk however, since the turbo may be too worn to fix. In that case you may be better off buying the central part of the turbo (known as the cartridge). Alan.
