The slave cylinder started leaking (the car came out of months of storage). As you know the hydraulic fluid for the clutch and the brakes shares a resevoir. The design of the system causes the clutch to fail before the brakes - this is a good. Although the tranny does need to be removed to replace the slave cylinder, consider this... The slave cylinder either operates or it does not. The pressure is not going to increase because of a new master cylinder over one that had a slow leak. The key to keeping slave cylinder rubber from cracking prematurely is regular use. The car likely has had this regular use and in my opinion, if the slave cylinder goes, it would have regarless of the new master cylinder. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
