Had the timing chain replaced at 70000 miles. The chain was noisy, so the garage thought it was a good idea to replace it. Also the sprocket wheels need replacing at the same time or they will quickly wear down the new chain. Look out for the state of the water pump, it can conveniently be replaced at the same time. Replacing the timing chain is more work if the car has balancer shafts: 1994+ .
