Hi I have an `84 99 GL and I ahve a now very annoying clunking noise coming from the drivers side front wheel area. I have checked the usual, ball joints, shock absorber mounting, coil spring breakage etc, etc. I am wondering about the brake caliper, I have the usual Saab problem that when I reverse and brake due to the wear in the caliper it sounds as if I have knocked over several dustbins, the noise happens during normal running, it doesnt even have to be a bumpy surface, I am now at a bit of a loss - anyone any ideas ??
