the previous post was not too helpful... How about pinion bearing/gear noise. This noise is road speed dependent. Drain and refill the transmission with new lube. See if the noise changes. I have changed the oil and had the noise diminish quite a lot. If you never have changed the transmission oil, it is probably transmission noise, anyway. It may be telling you 'You have neglected me and I am wearing now to the point that I make a noise. Continue to ignore me and I will trash the transmission!'
