The phone does work. The reason GM doesn't want to enable personal calling in SAAB convertibles (IMHO) is the system doesn't sound that good to the person you are calling if you are driving over 40mph or with the top down. They don't want a lot of dissatisfied people or customer complaints so in certain (noise prone) vehicles, they disable the personal calling feature. The next generation of hardware will fix this but I'm not sure when it's scheduled to migrate to the SAAB line.
