Hiya guys & gals erm, my air-con is screwed, in that it has leaked a load of pressure and the circular flywheel? at the windscreen end (the back) has started to make an awful grinding noise when the air-con is activated which increases in pitch as the revs are increased. So, turn it off I hear you say ... but ... My Saab? It's a 1988 900T. The main problem is that I have noticed the engine heat is *much* higher than before this problem occurred - usually about 0.5-1.0 cm from the red zone on the temp gauge until the drivers' side fan kicks in which reduces it back to about half way up the green part of the gauge. I have to leave the internal heating on full temperature and open all the windows to prevent passing out at the wheel. Is it really connected to my A/C problem? Basically, if I have the A/C unit "looked at" am I going to see my temp gauge drop back to the previous state of up to half way for normal conditions? Am I best having this looked at by a Saab mech, or a refridgeration guy? Any ideas, coz it's getting hot here in the UK now :) Paul 1988 900T (154,000 miles+)
