There was enough demand to reverse the "improvements" that the old standard features were offered as high priced options. A prime example was the optional exhaust system, to make it sound like the Classics - again buy the higher priced new design and pay even more money to get the original design back. I call that a money maker for Saab. Another "improvement" was the addition of the lip on the back of the hatchback, making it harder to slide large, heavy loads in and out. Again, buy the top of the line 9-5 wagon, at the top of the line price and pay again for another option, the sliding floor. Pay twice again for an original feature.
