Yes. The turbo can only supply air as fast as it can get it in through the intake. The stock filter and airbox in a this car will restrict airflow, increasing spool up time. There is also a HP gain at WOT, but since most of us don't drive like that, the spool up is more important. (Little of this applies to NA engines as they just don't need the kind of air a turbo needs). There are other mods you can make for short money to increase airflow, try www.saabnet.com, NG900 BBS, search for 'air box', 'silencer', and 'transition casting'. A K&N is a good idea on NG900SE, but the other mods are also recommended. K&N's filter as well as stock, they just provide more air flow. Why doesn't the factory use them ? Cost.
