One is an open cone filter in the engine compartment, which is not a particularly good idea with a turbo (don't want hot air). The other is a 'drop in' filter, that fits the original airbox. I highly recommend the drop in. One the subject of cost: true, Saab spends money on lots of things that seem odd. However, most of these oddities are things the consumer actually sees and feels. Most buyers don't even know where the air filter is. Bob
