My '97 900 SE seems to be getting a little bit cold-blooded. Now that the weather has turned cooler, I find that the transmission will often not shift into first gear when the car is first started. The tranny defaults to "safe mode" (third gear) and the check engine light and check gear box light turn on. If I let the engine warm for a few minutes the problem does not exist. After a few restarts, the warning lights shut off. Letting the engine warm is a bit of a nuisance; the car only has 70K miles! Anyone out there with the same problem and a solution? Thanks, Peter V.
