Hi Simon, Hope u get this since somehow the original post got lost. I know the coffin shaped temperature compensator u describe and have looked into it before. I think you were right in saying that it is most likely a worn jet and needle. Prob is the jet seems to be permanently fitted with no means of removal. So I improvised and inserted a thin washer between the original washer and the needle holder, thus dropping the needle into the jet by a fraction and hoping it would compensate for jet wear. Hey presto! it worked and brought the adjustment range back into the middle and the car is running much better. One other problem is a sudden stagger upon lifting the throttle slightly. I think this is probably due to the deceleration valve since its little diaphragm seems to have gone hard. Is this item available ? either separately or as part of a service kit ?.
