But http://www.roads.detr.gov.uk/roadsafety/hc/21.shtml#201 does specify 100m (328ft). Indeed late one night just before Christmas I was stopped in my 9-3 for having the front fogs on. My (genuine) excuse was that the (illuminated) switch was hidden behind the steering wheel and I hadn't realised they were still on from the morning (when they were very necessary). Rob.
