It may be time to bite the bullet, but I would like to put this out there in case there may be something that hasn't been thought of yet. The car is a 1997 Saab 900 2.5 V6 with automatic transmission. It has had no major problems other than a water pump replacement 2 years ago. It appears that I am getting oil in my coolant. The radiator boiled over and I stoped driving immideately. The stuff that boild out of it was like thick chocolate milk. I got the car to a garage and the mechanic couldn't get any oil to pass through the head gasket or any coolant to pass through. He drained the nasty coolant/oil mix, and replaced with water and conditioner. Ever since the car has run fine, but there is still a fair amount of oil/coolant residue in the coolant resivoir. The lines are not gummed up with the same stuff, they have clear water in them still. The oil level and coolant level has not changed significantly in the 500+ miles that the car has been driven since it boiled over. The mechanic here has said that the engine needs to be replaced because the insides are so gummed up with oil/collant slime. But it runs very nicely. Any ideas? I would like save my car if possible.
