I kind of doubt you would pay that much for the 9-3 once the dealing is done. Have you looked at Edmund's "what others are paying" section for the car? I'm guessing the VW price you quote is MSRP as well. For a livelier discussion comparing the cars as well as tips on what prices are good, post your question to http://www.saabnet.com as you'll be able to read tons of posts regarding the 2002 9-3 reliability, etc. Also, in fairness, you should check out http://www.vwvortex.com as well for more info about the Jetta. In my opinion the 9-3 is much nicer than the Jetta in form and function, as well as the speedy 205HP turbo engine. If you go ahead and get a 9-3 before the 2003 sport sedan is available you may get one of the last Saabs with a hatch which imo makes the Saab a more useful car when you need it.
