With the fuel distributer mounted on the lid it looks awkward, I know. Remove the bellows and undo the cross-head screws on the filter canister lid, then move out of the way - be careful not to damage the fuel pipes. Some oil in the filter is probably normal, it gets in there via the crankcase breather.
