It lies flat on the dash with the antenna pointing out through the windscreen. Seems to work OK while driving, but I have to pick it up and tilt it to read it. It's not that safe, I know, but I can't see any easier way without defacing the car. Next step is to hook it up to my laptop with the serial cable and have the wife read the screen to navigate - it's likely to be far better than her manual navigation - "Turn right here" "No, that's wrong, you turned the wrong way, I said turn left" "No you didn't, you said right" "Yes I did say left"....
