Could also be a faulty expansion tank cap allowing the collant to leak. Has the car been serviced lately. On the down side it could be head gasket failure, causing undue pressurisation of the coolant check for white smoke from the exhaust, oil in the coolant and or coolent in the oil.... I think gasket failure is less likely Keep an eye on the water level. The level sensors do go faulty, it could be related or it could be a red hearing.
