Dave, It sounds like he formed an attachment to his car, but could not justify what it was costing him. I'd be willing to bet he would get another one if he could be assured it would not be so troublesome to repair. Many of us like driving the Saabs, but bemoan the maintenance. For me, preventive maintenance allows me to maintain a very positive outlook. If you wait for it to break, it will always be a painful coexistence. At least the car does not rust away from its engine as the Japanese cars, still, do. It is also more sporting and comfortable than any American or Japanese car I have driven.
