They are highly >recommended by the Icelandic Police, etc, etc. The usual recommendation is to use recaps in commercial businesses where you roll up many miles and the casing itself is both expensive and *designed* for recapping... and to avoid it in the end user market where the tires are designed to be thrown away when the tread is gone. Don't forget, the sidewall de-stiffens from use and the rubber ages quickly on a tire. By the time you are wearing out the tread on your retread, the casing is now very old. Bob
