The 900 (GM) and 9-3 was based on a Vauxhall Cavalier floorpan/chassis which largely explains the poor handling, the 9-5 is based on an extended/stretched Vectra floorpan/chassis. The new 9-3 is based on the GM 'Epsilon' platform which is the same one used by the new Vectra and its apparently quite good and much improved.
