But there would be a slight delay in the rise of oil temp. So in this particular case having a water/coolant temp gauge would be an advantage. My Audi has both gauges. Once warmed up, the coolant is at a constant 90 deg C. My oil temp varies between 70 and 100 deg C, depending on ambient temperature and how aggressively I'm driving. In having this variance in oil temp, it's always nice to see my coolant temp sitting at a comfortable 90C. /Robert, a former Saab owner.
