A sick maple syrup smell is what you'd expect. Or it might be a plugged up drain that is allowing the collected rainwater to seep into the passenger compartment. Determine positively if it is coolant or water first. If you know what coolant tastes like you should be able to figure that out pretty easily. If it is coolant, the matrix can be replaced. It is about $100 from the on-line parts places. It is supposed to be a fiddley job. Lots of web sites tell you how-to-do-it. Here's one: http://216.78.172.32/climate_control_folder/9000heatercore.htm You can also try using "Bar's Leaks" liquid in the coolant. This may buy you some time if the leak is small and slow enough. You would probably want to fix the cause of the problem eventually. If the drain is plugged, it's simply a matter of finding the rubber drain hose and clearing the obstruction. There are also web sites which detail this. Here's one: http://216.78.172.32/body_folder/9kevapdr.htm Good Luck, Fred
