I see the dilemma... I see possible solutions such as an eprom chip that would be supplied with the car when new (matched to the ECU like a remote). It would be like the old "key codes" that were supplied in the past. Since it would not be a remote, the consumer could leave it in a safe place. The ECU could even be set up to allow you to get one of these set up at the dealer. It would be like a spare remote, but since it would not be a remote, no one would carry it around. I'd be the first to admit that it would be cheaper to buy a separate remote. >Perhaps if you send the computers and keys to the factory. Probably >cheaper to buy a new kit. Overnight delivery is cheap these days, a half hour at the factory, how much could it really be worth ? Certainly it would make more sense than telling the customer to spend $1200 on a new computer. > * Don't blame Saab for this, blame the worthless car stealing trash. I hear you. Lesson 1: Always have a spare remote for a Saab in a safe place. -*- Related story: I saw a post by a guy who accidentally went swimming with his Saab remote. It was soaked and would not work. He had the key, but without a remote he wasn't going anywhere. After about 8 hours it dried out enough to operate and he was able to go on his way. Lesson 2: carry a spare remote somewhere safe on long trips. Bob
