SW (ngnopsamch.fsnet.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying : > As it has been a little warmer than usual here in Britain I thought > "hang the fuel consumption" and fired up the Air Con on my 1993 classic > 900 SE. Aircon is an absolute "Use it or Lose it" - the seals dry out, as already suggested, and the gas escapes. Handbooks tend to suggest once a week for at least ten minutes throughout the year. > It's been suggested to me that the gas may need topping up. Does this > sound right? How much is this likely to be? Any other things to > consider? Utterly spot on. Depending on where in the UK you are, less than £100 to around £50 or so. Bizarrely, probably less in the SE, as more people have airconned cars. In future, use it. If you're round NW London/Bucks/Herts, drop me an email, I can probably suggest a few people. BTW - My handbook suggests that it can be retrofitted dead easily to C900s - is this so, and does anybody have a (working) kit to sell/donate to us for the Plymouth-Dakar trip - it'd be nice not to cook completely in the desert! -- Adrian dakar - at - achapman - dot - freeisp - dot - co - dot - uk Team Desert Vikings, Plymouth-Dakar 2004 www.coldsoba.com/desertvikings www.plymouth-dakar.co.uk
