The cat-converter sites up under the engine. The cat is on the engine side of the flex pipe in the exhaust, the center muffler is at the rear side. If the cat is cracked, I'd make a wild guess that you are running too hot in the exhaust for some reason and it is overheating (or now clogged or defective in some way). We can pursue that as an engine tuning problem. If the center muffler is cracked after 66K miles, I'd say that it lived its life. Mufflers wear based on type of driving and a lot of other variables. 66K is not bad. Let me know which issue it is and I'll give you advice in either direction. Bob
