It is cheaper and better to use an alternative R-12 replacement. I think converting it is a mistake. Probably converted to R-134a. R-134a is not as good as R-12 so it works fine in a system designed for it but not as good in a system designed for R-12. ES-12a is a hydrocarbon direct replacement. I has a flame retardent in it. FREEZE-12 is 80% R-134a and 20% R-142b. Not as good as ES-12a and a little more expensive. Both can be bought by individuals and you add the R-134a style fittings to charge it. Most shops won't touch either of these for some reason. FREEZE-12 is approved by EPA, ES-12a is exempt because it is a non-ozone depleting natural substance. I used 2 cans of ES-12a in my '86 900 T at a cost of $16 and the A/C is running just fine. If and when it leaks out, there goes another $16. Cheaper than filling my gas tank. Charles.
