Hello all, VERY little of the liquid gasket stuff is enough..! Suppose you do a continuous line of 1 mm diameter, and the seam after mounting is 0.1 mm thick, you get a seal-width of around ( (3.14 / 4) * 1^2 ) / 0.1 = 7.5 mm wide... Thats more than enough already for most applications. Just make sure there is a continuous "line" along the surface you need to seal. I think the key is not to apply too much of any of that stuff so it does not get behind the oil pan or timing cover, etc. With Loctite the oil soluble thing scares me. There will be plenty of oil in the oil pan... I got the permatex black tube for $5 at Pepboys instead of tube for ~$45 at the Saab dealer.
