Alert me when someone posts in this thread:

The original Bridgestone tires have gotten consistently crappy reviews on the tirerack.com website. I think for how fast the tires wear out, a pair of Kumho (sticky wears out fast, but cheap) or Yokohama (sticks like glue) tires would be better if you are looking for high performance tires.

I have had very bad experiences with the Pirelli tires in the past, the second time in less than 5K miles I had to replace both rear tires on my 911 I swore never to by this brand again. Twice the tires cupped, and I mean CUPPED! It looked like a Rottweiler bit a chunk out of the rear tires!

Currently, I am using the Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 (Michelin started with one of their rally tires and created a street legal version) tires on the car. The tires have probably the stiffest sidewall I have ever used on a non-rally car. For autocrossing I use the Yoko AO48 tires, but many people use the Kumhos because they are so cheap, even if the Kumhos wear out every 6K miles.

Hope this helps, and I would scout the tirerack site for tire reviews.
