Both of these engines are heavily reworked GM engines BUT both of them were designed with a turbo in mind and both are a couple of the best GM has ever done. Here's my take.
4cyl
Better Handling
Better Gas Mileage
Possibly last longer as the 6cyl in SAAB form is quite new
I like this one but would possibly chip it if I had one (must be from a reputable company though)
6cyl
Idles more smoothly
Definitely more get-up-and-go
Dual exhaust looks cool
If turns out to be a quality engine over time, it will keep resale better.

I forget what the 2004 9-3 Aero has for power. I think it's somewhere between 210 and 250. If it is 210, then I would chip it. These engines were overbuilt and can take it if done correctly. I wonder if they offer a Hirsch upgrade yet from the dealer? Extra money but the way to go if you can swing it.
