I almost bought a certified 99 V6 SE with 20K (listed as 18.5k}
miles for $24k, through a long island Saab dealer, but then after test driving it, i noticed a bad scrape from about halfway across the driver's door extending to the front fender, almost to the wheel well. it was down low so one might miss it at first, but with any inspection, very obvious. he promised to repair it, we filled out all the paper work, signed the contract} but when i went to pick up the car -- "i only promised to wet sand it. to fix it, i'd need to be a body shop." No way, i said. Take it or leave it he told me. So i left- check in pocket (no financing, cash money) - drove away in my crappy supposed trade in.

That, apparently, is what you get with "certified". i will probably never consider buying a used car from a dealer again. you pay a premium (in retrospect 24K was a ridiculously high price) and for what, to be treated like dirt.

But the good news is that i discovered,(through the help of this board) the great lease deals on the 02 Linear, and i am thrilled to drive my new car. the 5 speed auto is great and, funny, i almost always drive in sport mode while my wife prefers the normal setting. some things are so predictable.

Maybe when im done with this lease, ill go for an aero!
