There is no "need" to wax the polymer protected surface for protection. However, most detailing guru's agree that the synthetics don't provide the same "wet", "just waxed" look that a natural carnuba wax gives. Additonally, the shine from a high quality carnuba is deeper and richer than that of a polymer.

On my 9-5 Aero, during the summer months I rely only on the carnuba wax over a high quality polish (3M Imperial Hand Glaze). UV, acid and other elements reduce the life of each application to 60-90 days tops. Because it is summer, I am able to get additional coats of wax on to keep the shine and the protection.

In the winter months, I remove the carnuba and use Klasse All In One polymer. I usually finish it with a coat of carnuba wax, strictly for the "look" and not for protection. The Klasse will last the entire winter and the carnuba only lasts a month or so under harsh conditions.

The bottom line is, put carniba on it only if you want the "extra" shine and depth that the polymers don't give.
